MONTREUX    GOLDEN ROSE

TO 1988

The beautiful Castle of Chillon, which is located east of the city of Montreux an historical place where every summer 1000's of people came by car, bus to visit it.  (Picture Above).

Level 42  was a band with an incredible bass player  Mark King.
He sang and played bass like a drum machine,  with a feel that I haven't seen  in many bass player.
 I tried to sponsor him, but he was already involved with Trace Elliot Amps, which was a that time! 
"Peavey  competitor"

This band was from England, but I can't  remember the name. The only thing I rtemeber is that it was very good and very popular with the young public.

Again here is   another band which I don't remembere the name. Shame on me! If you know it please do not hesitate to send me an email and let me know. Thank you!

Chris, Huey and Mario the bass player were three talented musicians. They  played  on stage with  such feeling and soul, that it sounded  like listening them in a recording studio.

Samantha Fox was in the 80's what Britney Spears is today.
The only difference was the size of her breast, which   attracted attention from all  teenagers.  I asked her backstage if I could have a picture taken with her and was very friendly "she said yes"

Unfortunately the following     picture is one taken during  a sound check, which didn't give me the time to ask the name of this band which was very popular in England, and the female singer had blue eyes like an ocean in a sunny day.

Patrick Moraz was a Swiss Citizen. I met him and his band in 1970 at the Grillon Night Club.. When I saw how he played the keyboard with his nose and feet like Jerry Lee Lewis, I knew that he'll have a huge  future in the music business.
He went on to play  with the famous YES, Moody Blues, etc!

Today he is living in Los Angeles. I  would like to see him again after more than 15 years since we had a  drink together in a bar in Geneva (Picture).

ShakaTan Bass player, who I sponsored with Peavey Max Bass. He was very happy with this amp and played with it on tour for more than 3 years.

Huey Lewis and The News, a fantastic band, which rocked like a jumbo jet taking off.
Chris, who I had the opportunity to work with,  was not only a great musician, but also a great  back up singer when Huey Lewis was  singing.

Ah Ah  was a fantastic band with a lot of fan's (mostly girls), who couldn't resist screaming, crying and passing out when they saw the singer  on stage. One day we had to take more than 26 young girls backstage and call the emergency services team who  reanimated these young girls who was laying on the floor.

 
The two Casanova of the band, who were the most admired and made the young girls in the audience dreaming, screaming and more! 

The Electric Light Orchestra is a band which was very popular and also had many hits at the number one music Award. They came in 1986 to play at the Golden Rose of Montreux, which  is held  every year in May.
Unfortunately, this fantastic TV and telecommunications event is today held in the Swiss German area (North of Switzerland). It's a  beautiful area but the people are very unfriendly and look at you like they never went outside of their home's and country.

Julian Lennon

Julian Lennon was  at the Golden Rose that year. The son of John Lennon was not as impressive and good as his father.
Lot of  people were disappointed because of their expectations that he should be at least good as his father was. That was not the case!
